A mindfully mindless exercise in simultaneously grand and intimate connection via technologic fandangery...

My friend Rachael sent one of those getting-to-know-you email quiz things today, which I secretly love. I have always wanted to write one, because I sometimes wish the questions would go a bit deeper or touch on things that are more the fodder of good dinner conversation and late-night talks with friends on the porch in summer.

So... as an exercise, here is my stab. Feel free to answer, pass it along, add your own ideas, etc.

1. What was the last thought you remember having before you read this question?

2. What do you consider your three greatest strengths?

3. How do you know when you're happy?

4. How do you measure and define success?

5. When was the last time you did something that surprised you?

6. Fight, flight or freeze?

7. Who or what makes you feel safe?

8. How do you know when to quit? (How about when not to?)

9. What motivates you?

10. What do you want your epitaph to say?

11. How would you describe your experience in school?

12. What's the one toy you remember most fondly from your childhood?

13. What changed between yesterday and today?

14. If you could have any food or drink you wanted at this exact moment, what would it be?

15. What's your favorite thing about yourself?

16. How do you know when you're in love?

17. What is the greatest sacrifice you've ever made? (Was it worth it?)

18. How do you de-stress?

19. Who or what is the most important thing in your life right now?

20. Name one thing you intend to do tomorrow.

Hi G! I'm going to post my answers here. (These are some really good questions, by the way--you've made me think!)

1. What was the last thought you remember having before you read this question? Whoever is speaking right now during the impeachment proceedings is a really good speaker.

2. What do you consider your three greatest strengths? My love for my family and friends; my ability to make decisions and follow through; my organizational skills :-)

3. How do you know when you're happy? When Ryan makes me laugh.

4. How do you measure and define success? On whether what I am doing fulfills me and brings me and others happiness even to the smallest degree.

5. When was the last time you did something that surprised you? When I went ziplining in Guatemala, and I thought I would love it, but to my surprise, I freaked out and had to be escorted down. Now I know my limits, at least in extreme sports.

6. Fight, flight or freeze? I want to fight, but I think I'd freeze.

7. Who or what makes you feel safe? Ryan

8. How do you know when to quit? (How about when not to?)When the thought of continuing on makes me feel sick in my heart (and when my instincts tell me not to stop)

9. What motivates you? Deadlines.

10. What do you want your epitaph to say? I think maybe just Daughter, Wife, Mother, Friend. (hopefully not for at least fifty years)

11. How would you describe your experience in school? Stressful; I put too much pressure on myself.

12. What's the one toy you remember most fondly from your childhood? My Kermit the Frog Big Wheel

13. What changed between yesterday and today? My clothes.

14. If you could have any food or drink you wanted at this exact moment, what would it be? A hot chocolate.

15. What's your favorite thing about yourself? I think that I have connected people who otherwise would have never known each other.

16. How do you know when you're in love? When you know you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. -Harry to Sally, "When Harry Met Sally"

17. What is the greatest sacrifice you've ever made? (Was it worth it?) I don't think I've had to make one yet, but I know I'd sacrifice my life for the people I love. And it would be worth it.

18. How do you de-stress? A hot bath, or talking it out with Ryan.

19. Who or what is the most important thing in your life right now? Ryan.

20. Name one thing you intend to do tomorrow. Spend quality time with friends.
